The Christmas Markets here are scattered throughout the city with the main market located adjacent to the picturesque Town Hall. We also include some railway excursions too!
ITINERARY
Day 1 – Aachen
Your InterRail pass is valid for travel from your local station to London this morning. We take a lunchtime Eurostar from London St. Pancras to Brussels where we connect to a high speed train to Aachen. Our hotel is a short walk away and dinner here is included.
Day 2 – North to Hamburg
A morning departure from Aachen, we make a change of trains in Cologne and arrive in Hamburg mid-afternoon. Our hotel for the next 4 nights is found a short walk from the station, and in addition to the InterRail pass, we have a local transport pass valid for the duration of our stay. After checking in the afternoon is free to explore the many Christmas Markets.
Day 3 – Molli Steam Railway
The tour leader will organise an optional excursion to the Molli narrow gauge steam railway in Bad Doberan. The cost of reaching this line is included in your InterRail pass but the steam train fare must be purchased locally. Alternatively spend the day exploring Hamburg’s festive markets. Hamburg's main Weihnachtsmarkt is held in front of the Town Hall with a large Christmas tree marking the location. There are a variety of other 'styles' of market dotted around the city too.
Day 4 – Bremen
Today there is another optional excursion to Bremen which straddles the Weser River. There will be free time to explore its Christmas Markets situated around the Town Hall and the Roland Statue (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) which is transformed into a festive wonderland.
Day 5 – Miniatur Wunderland
We have an excursion to Miniatur Wunderland in the morning, with a free afternoon to continue enjoying the city’s festive atmosphere.
Day 6 – Cologne
To Cologne, our final overnight stop. Our hotel is ideally located in the station building and Cologne boasts no fewer than 7 Christmas Markets for any last minute festive purchases.
Day 7 – Homeward Bound
A morning departure by high speed train from Cologne to Brussels for Eurostar service to London. We arrive back early afternoon, your InterRail pass is valid for travel back to your local station today.
