A late afternoon flight takes us direct to Halifax, the capital of Nova Scotia for a 2-night stay. Halifax is a bustling maritime city with stunning coastal scenery and a thriving art and cultural scene.
Visit the historic waterfront where you will find the Canadian Museum of Immigration and stroll along the waterfront boardwalk – one of the longest in the world. Citadell Hill, a star-shaped fortress, provides panoramic views of the city and harbour, allowing you to delve into the city’s military past while enjoying a picturesque backdrop.
Late morning departure onboard VIA Rail’s Ocean train, which takes us through Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and into the province of Quebec. We travel in comfortable Sleeper Plus Class, with private cabins and complimentary meal service.
An early morning arrival in Sainte-Foy, a Quebec suburb, followed by a transfer to the city centre for a 2-night stay. The rest of the day is free to explore this charming city. It has a fortified colonial core, Vieux-Québec and Place Royale, with stone buildings and narrow streets.
Transfer out to Montmorency Falls station on the outskirts of the city to board the Train de Charlevoix. We take a return trip to Baie-Saint-Paul, a town nestled in a valley on the northern shore of the Saint Lawrence River. Visiting on a Sunday enables us to experience the essence of Charlevoix life at the Public Market.
A leisurely lunchtime train along the Saint Lawrence River to Montreal for a 1-night stay. Montreal is the largest city in the Quebec province, and is known for its French-Canadian culture, 17th Century historic district and architectural landmarks.
Enjoy a free morning in Montreal before travelling by rail to Ottawa for a 2-night stay.
Located at the confluence of the Ottawa and Rideau Rivers, Ottawa is the perfect place to soak up national and regional cultures. Parliament Hill, the seat of Canada's federal government, welcomes visitors on free tours of its historic buildings. Seven of Canada's nine national museums inform on Canadian history, art, war, aviation, science and more.
A 5-hour rail journey to Toronto enables you to sit back, relax and enjoy views of the changing landscapes as we travel down the Québec-Windsor corridor. Stay for 3 nights at the landmark Fairmont Royal York Hotel, opposite Union station.
A 2-hour journey takes us to the breathtaking Niagara Falls, and there is ample time for sightseeing before our return train. A sightseeing pass which covers the local WEGO bus service and many of the available attractions is included.
Free day to explore Toronto. This vibrant city has so much to offer, from the quaint Distillery District, the iconic CN Tower, bustling St. Lawrence Market and the attractive Islands, just a short ferry journey away.
Morning departure on this famous cross-country train in comfortable Sleeper Plus Class accommodation. The well-appointed train has dome and lounge cars, as well as a full dining car, and of course, your private cabin. All meals and soft drinks on this train are included in the cost of the fare.
Sit back and admire the scenery as we pass the forests and lakes of Northern Ontario, through the big sky countryside of the Prairies and the highlight of any cross-Canada trip, the Rocky Mountains. Enjoy gourmet 3-course meals, with regional menus which showcase local produce. A selection of local beers and wines are available to purchase to accompany your meal.
Morning arrival in Vancouver, this west coast city is relaxed and friendly. Once we have dropped off our luggage at our hotel for the next 4 nights, the rest of the day is free.
