Mr & Mrs Spiers from Cornwall wanted to experience Scotland’s history and scenery so we tailored them a holiday which combined private tours with knowledgeable, local guides and free time to explore their surroundings.

ITINERARY

Day 1 - To Leuchars

Rail from Plymouth to Leuchars, via Edinburgh for a 2-night stay.

Day 2 - Tour Palaces & Burghs

Full day 'Royal Palaces & Ancient Burghs' Tour which includes a tour of St Andrews, Falkland Palace and Dunfermline Abbey. Pick up and drop off from hotel included.

Day 3 - 'Saturdated in Secrets' Tour

Rail to Dundee followed by a full day 'Saturated in Secrets' tour based around the Da Vinci Code novel. Visits include Rosslyn Chapel, Linlithgow Palace and Stirling Castle. Pick up from Dundee railway station in the morning and drop off at Dundee hotel afterwards included. 1-night stay.

Day 4 - To Pitlochry via Perth

Rail from Dundee to Pitlochry via Perth with time at leisure in Perth. 1-night stay in Pitlochry.

Day 5 - To Kinlock Rannoch

Lunchtime bus from Pitlochry to Kinloch Rannoch for a 1-night stay (bus payable locally). Afternoon at leisure.

Day 6 - Urqhart Castle & Loch Ness

Rail from Rannoch Moor Rail Station to Fort William. Bus to Urquhart Castle (bus payable locally) for a visit (included) followed by a 1-hour Loch Ness cruise over to Inverness for a 1-night stay.

Day 7 - Kyle of Lochalsh

Kyle of Lochalsh service from Inverness to Kyle, followed by a private transfer over to the Isle of Skye. 2-night stay in Portree.

Day 8 - Isle of Skye Tour

Whole day private tour of Skye which includes the Old Man of Storr, the Quiraing, the Trotternish coastline and the Fairy Glen.

Day 9 - To Mallaig

Private transfer to Armadale ferry port for the ferry across to Mallaig. Time at leisure before a short bus/taxi ride (not included) to Morar for a 2-night stay in a local Guest House with views of the sea.

Day 10 - Outstanding Coastline

At leisure to enjoy Morar's famous white sands and outstanding scenery.

Day 11 - Fort William

Rail from Morar railway station to Fort William. Day at leisure in Fort William before catching a 1st Class Sleeper to London Euston.

Day 12 - By Rail to Plymouth

Rail from London to Plymouth in standard class.
